A trip to our valued South American suppliers
Recently, three of our DO IT ORGANIC colleagues from different departments were able to make a trip to our suppliers of brazil nuts and quinoa. Vera (Sales), Joren (Purchase) and Nadine (Quality) traveled to Peru and Bolivia together for a work visit to the origins and production facilities of some of our most beloved South American products.
Good things combined
As Joren says: “It was interesting to see each other’s vision and point of view on these supply chains and essential to get a better understanding of them and of some of the struggles that can arise. And of course, it was good to strengthen and maintain the personal relationship with our suppliers.” Nadine enjoyed the fact that apart from the hard work there was also room to get to know the suppliers on a more informal basis, and what was extra helpful was Vera’s fluent Spanish.
Safeguarding the best
We highly value auditing our suppliers and, although it is not required for our BRC certification, we think it is vital to our risk management. Nadine as our QA Suppliers Specialist conducts the audits which cover topics such as the HACCP plan, traceability tests, management of allergens, and of course a tour through the production plant. “Both we and the suppliers share a common goal: improving processes, output and food quality, and this often ensures a positive listening ear to feedback.”
Well-established connections
During these trips we as DO IT ORGANIC try to visit the growing area, local communities, and factories together with our suppliers to get a better understanding of the origins of our products and the manufacturing conditions. Being able to communicate in person and seeing the processes very much help to improve all aspects of doing business. Which, in turn, leads to us being able to provide the best possible organic ingredients to our customers.
