Looking back on 2024 together

As the year is almost coming to an end, it's the perfect time to thank all of you who we had the pleasure of working with in 2024. This December, we’re reflecting on the year by sharing four weekly animations that highlight our achievements. Scroll down below to view all four, we work bottom-up.

4) To thank our partners...

To everyone who keeps our Barneveld office thriving, thank you. From the people who take care of our garden and pond to the cleaning staff who make sure we start each day in a fresh and welcoming space - your work doesn’t go unnoticed.

A special shoutout to our beekeeper, who kept our hive buzzing this year. Thanks to you, we harvested 40 kilograms of our own Dutch organic honey - a sweet reminder of what care and dedication can achieve.

This year, we embraced the principles of organic agriculture - Care, Health, Ecology, and Fairness. These values are guiding us toward a better, more sustainable future, and we couldn’t do it without the support of everyone on this journey with us.

Finally, to our Quality team - you’ve worked so hard to uphold our high standards. From organic to halal, kosher, fair trade, and more, your attention to detail keeps us at the top of our game. And to the organizations and certifiers who help us maintain these standards, thank you for your partnership.

3) To thank our employees...

This year we celebrated the introduction of Amaizin Coco Crispy Rolls in two flavours: Original and Chocolate. These new products were particularly liked by customers and colleagues alike and quickly became a favourite!

2024 was a year of growth: our team was expanded with many new faces, bringing us to 107 colleagues. We also continued to grow outside the workplace - we welcomed new little ones and the fifth is on the way!

We are proud of our fantastic team and grateful for the great results we’ve achieved together this year. We’ve celebrated throughout the year with fun activities, like the local running event in Barneveld and exciting table tennis tournaments. And, of course, we can't wait for the upcoming annual Christmas party!

Here's to an inspiring and fruitful new year!

2) To thank our logistic partners...

We want to give a special shout-out to our hardworking logistics team! This year, they’ve successfully shipped over 1,100 containers of organic goods to our warehouse in Barneveld and delivered these items efficiently to our customers.

Our warehouse spans an impressive 21,000 m² and accommodates up to 11,200 pallets. This year, we stored more than 8,600 pallets, maintaining a steady flow of incoming and outgoing goods, which kept storage spaces optimized. Many of our ingredients are then processed in Controlled Atmosphere Chambers (EcO2), ensuring pests are controlled and food quality and safety are maintained.

Thanks to the dedication of our production facility team, we've packed over 140,000 bags of 5 kg each - in addition to countless other items they’ve (re)packaged! And to wrap up, here’s a fun fact: the heaviest items in our assortment are rice, spelt, and tapioca syrup.

1) To thank our customers, and suppliers...

Thank you to all our customers for making this year such a success! It’s been great to see how much you enjoyed our range of products, quality, and service. This year, you purchased over 160 unique organic food ingredients, adding up to more than 1,000 different items - from 5 kg of sesame seeds to 25 kg of coconut oil and even 1,000 kg of basmati rice.

Looking at the numbers:

  • Sugar was the most purchased product by weight, with over 3.5 million kg sold.
  • In trade units, sunflower kernels came out on top, with nearly 300,000 units bought.
  • And when it comes to the consumer favourites, Amaizin tortilla chips were a huge hit, with over 3.1 million units sold.

We also want to express our gratitude to all of our suppliers, who provided us and our customers with all these organic ingredients. Our big network, with ties to 67 countries in total, allowed us to make it all possible. With 21 European countries (that means only 6 countries missing), and 46 non-European countries, the suppliers we've been working with came from all over the world.

Despite being a fantastic year, sourcing wasn’t without its challenges. Starting in January 2024, the demand for organic products skyrocketed among us, our customers, and our suppliers. This put significant pressure on the availability of organic products, testing the resilience of our supply chain. Adding to the challenge, the closure of the Red Sea and Suez Canal routes in January forced sea vessels to take the longer journey around the Cape of Good Hope. This detour increased transit times by 2-3 weeks, further complicating logistics.

Some ingredients were difficult to source this year for various reasons, including Beluga lentils and cocoa powder. Fortunately, our purchasing team rose to the challenge, successfully adding a variety of cocoa products, as well as hemp protein powder, psyllium husk, Flame raisins, and mango pieces, to our assortment.

Together, we navigated a year of challenges and opportunities. Here's to another year full of successes!
